Serene Spaces Protect Our Sanity

Updated: Aug 29, 2021

Why We Need Serene Spaces

We all need our own space, which can be challenging when we live with others and even if we live alone but don't focus on a reserved space for peace of mind. Think of it as a "staycation" spot within your current living area. Having a designated space set aside as an important reminder to include serenity into our daily practices is critical for mental and physical health. They are small spaces to help us recover from the day, to redefine our lifestyles, and to recharge.

How To Do It

Pick one small area of your living zone to designate as a serene space. Clear it of all clutter and make sure it functions as you need. For example, a serene bathtub can be stocked with soft washcloths, essential oils or candles, and a fabulous rug to step out onto. The space should remind you to take a moment to breathe, pause the insanity of the day, and get into a space of serenity. Got kids and this sounds impossible? To be calm is the highest achievement of the self.

Get Creative With It

Small, serene spaces can include:

  • A fountain or chimes on your patio

  • Part of your closet with only essential, favorite items

  • A section of your kitchen counter

  • The shower or bathtub with spa items

  • A reading nook with a soft blanket

  • A chair somewhere for coffee or tea

  • A clean car with a playlist of good music

  • Anywhere you can find to create a simple, mini retreat that works for you

Before you know it, these precious little spaces will be popping up all around you. Let them serve as reminders that you are worthy of taking the time and space you need to restore energies.

Love and Blessings,

Dax

I haven’t heard it expressed like this before (“Serene Spaces”) and I love it. You have such a gift for expressing concepts in creative, beautiful and accessible terms. 💜
